Peter, a publishing executive, with a wife, two daughters, two parakeets and two cats is escaping his family for a few hours on a Sunday by reading on his favourite bench in New York City’s Central Park. Suddenly he is approached by a stranger named Jerry, who makes his entrance with the announcement “I’ve been to the zoo!” Jerry is intent on claiming the bench for himself, and proceeds to probe deep into Peter’s life leading them closer and closer to a deadly confrontation.
Directed by: Brett Willis
Producer/Actor: Joshua Ackermann
Producer/Actor: Carlen Escarraga
Production Designer: Brett Willis
Stage Manager: Natalie Collins
At times electrifying, Escarraga is menacing, creepy and always seemingly in motion, managing to effectively bring this odd madman to life.
Under Brett Willis’s direction there is a wonderful subtly to how both actors handle this additional subtext in Albee’s play.
